GPA calculator

Paste a list of subjects, one per line, as "subject;credits;grade" — for example "Calculus;4;A" — and this tool calculates a weighted grade point average, total credits and, given a previous average and credit count, a cumulative CGPA. It suits students converting a semester's results into one number for a transcript, a scholarship application or tracking progress toward a degree.

Pick the grading scale that matches your school: the American 4.0 scale, a 5.0 weighted scale for honors and AP-style courses, the European ECTS letter scale (A to F), or the Slovak and Czech 1-to-5 numeric scale. If none fit, switch to "Custom table" and enter your own grade-to-points pairs, such as "A:4,B:3,C:2,D:1,F:0". Turn on "Include pass/fail subjects" to count courses graded P or NP toward your credit total without letting them skew the average — the default excludes them, matching how most institutions calculate GPA. Add a previous GPA and credit count for a genuine cumulative CGPA rather than just this term's figure, and set a target CGPA with a next-term credit count to see the average needed to reach it.

The tool accepts comma or dot as the decimal separator for credits, and Windows or Unix line endings interchangeably. A malformed line, or a grade that doesn't match the selected scale, is skipped and counted separately rather than breaking the whole calculation. Choose a plain-text summary or an aligned table, and set how many decimal places are shown.

Everything runs locally in your browser — grades and subject names are never uploaded or stored anywhere. Copy the result, download it as a .txt file, or send it back into the input to adjust a grade and recalculate instantly as you type.

FAQ

What format should each line be in?
One subject per line, as "subject;credits;grade" — for example "Statistics;3;B+". Semicolons separate the three fields.
How is the cumulative CGPA calculated?
It combines your previous GPA and credit count with this term’s quality points and credits, weighting both by their credit totals.
What happens to pass/fail subjects?
By default, subjects graded P (pass) or NP (no pass) are excluded from both the credit total and the average. Turn on "Include pass/fail subjects" to count their credits toward your total without affecting the GPA.
Can I use my own grading scale?
Yes. Choose "Custom table" and enter grade-to-points pairs like "A:4,B:3,C:2,D:1,F:0" to match your institution’s exact conversion.
Is my grade data uploaded anywhere?
No. The calculation runs entirely in your browser — your subjects, credits and grades never leave your device.
