Mad Libs story generator
Mad Libs is the word game where you supply a list of words — nouns, verbs, adjectives, names, numbers — without seeing the story they will land in, and only then find out how silly the result turned out. This tool runs the whole game in the browser: pick a story template, type your words one per line in the order the blanks ask for them, and the finished story appears as you type.
Ten built-in templates are ready to go — a camping trip, a job interview, a space adventure, a haunted house and more — each with its own mix of blanks. Turn on "Pick a random template" to let the tool choose one for you instead of picking from the list, which is the closer match to how the party game is normally played. Every blank you haven't filled yet shows its part of speech in brackets, like [noun] or [adjective], so the input box doubles as your cue sheet for what to type next.
Words are matched to blanks strictly in order: your first line fills the first blank, your second line fills the second, and so on. Extra words beyond what a template needs are simply left unused, and the live tally under the output shows how many blanks are filled against the template's total. "Highlight the words you added" wraps each substituted word in asterisks so it stands out from the rest of the story — handy for spotting which parts you wrote versus which came from the template.
Everything runs locally in your browser; nothing you type is uploaded anywhere. When the story is ready, copy it, download it as a .txt file, or clear the input and start a new one — perfect for a classroom warm-up, a party icebreaker or just a quick laugh with friends.
