Name compatibility calculator

Paste two names and this tool works out a compatibility percentage from the letters they share, showing every intermediate step rather than just a final number. It is a text-based party trick more than a science, and it is a fun way to check name pairs, test screen names, or settle a friendly argument about who a nickname secretly points to.

Two calculation methods are available. "Matching letters" cancels out the letters two names have in common, the way the paper elimination game works, then reduces whatever letters are left into a percentage through repeated digit addition. "Classic letter game" is the well-known trick of writing both names together and counting how many L, O, V and E letters turn up, then reducing that count the same way. Switch "Include surnames" on to compare full names instead of just first names, and turn "Ignore diacritics and spaces" off if you want accented letters such as š or ü treated as distinct from their plain equivalents. "Add a short comment" appends one line summarizing the score, and "Output language" lets you keep that summary in English even when the site itself is set to another language.

Paste one pair per line — separated by a comma, an ampersand, "vs" or "and" — to score a whole list at once, which is handy for running several couples or nicknames through the same settings in one pass. A line that doesn't contain exactly two names is skipped and counted separately rather than guessed at, and the tally under the output reports how many pairs were scored and the average result.

Everything runs locally in your browser: names are never sent anywhere, matched instantly as you type. Copy the result, download it as a .txt file, or send it back into the input to try another combination.

FAQ

How is the percentage actually calculated?
The tool counts letters two names share (or, in classic mode, how many L, O, V and E letters the combined names contain), then repeatedly adds adjacent digits together until two digits remain — those become the percentage. The steps shown under each result are that reduction, start to finish.
Why do two different-looking names sometimes score 100%?
Names that reduce to the exact same letters — for example after ignoring case, diacritics and spaces — are treated as a perfect match rather than run through the letter game.
Can I check several name pairs at once?
Yes. Put one pair per line, separated by a comma, "&", ";", "vs" or "and", and every valid line is scored in the same pass using the options you have set.
What happens to a line that only has one name?
It is skipped rather than guessed at, and the tally reports how many lines were skipped so nothing goes missing silently.
Is my input sent anywhere?
No. Every score is calculated locally in your browser — the names you type never leave your device.
