Discount calculator

Paste a price list as one product per line, in the format "product;price", and this tool applies your discount to every row at once. For each item it shows the original price, the discount in currency and percent, and the final price, plus the total saved across the list. Retailers pricing a sale, shoppers checking a cart export, and anyone cleaning up a price spreadsheet can skip the manual arithmetic.

The discount type sets how the reduction works: a straight percentage, a fixed amount off each price, or a chain of discounts applied one after another (comma-separated, like 10,15,5). Chained discounts compound rather than add, so 10% then 10% off €100 lands on €81, not €80. Psychological rounding pushes each final price down to the nearest value ending in .99, the style used on most sale tags. A VAT percentage adds tax on top of the discounted price, and a third field per line — "product;price;cost" — sets a minimum margin, flagging any item that would sell below it before the list goes out.

Switch the calculation direction to "Find the discount %" to work the other way: enter "product;original price;sale price" and the tool reports what percentage the sale price represents off the original, per line and on average — useful for auditing a sale someone else already priced. The currency option is a label for readability only; it does not convert between currencies.

Lines that don't match the expected format pass through unchanged, so a stray header doesn't break the rest of the list, and CRLF and LF line endings both work. Choose plain text or a pipe-delimited table as the output. Everything runs locally in your browser — prices and product names are never uploaded. Copy the result, download it as .txt, or send it back to the input for another pass.

FAQ

What input format does the calculator expect?
One product per line as "product;price" — for example "Desk lamp;39.99". Add a third field, the purchase cost, if you want the minimum margin option to check that line.
How does the discount chain work?
Enter percentages separated by commas, such as 10,15,5, and the tool applies them one after another to the same price — the second discount is taken from what is left after the first, not from the original price, so the total reduction is smaller than simply adding the percentages together.
What does psychological rounding do?
It rounds the discounted price down to the nearest value ending in .99, which is the pricing style many stores use on sale tags. It only ever rounds down, so the shown discount is never smaller than what you configured.
How is the discount percentage calculated in reverse mode?
Switch the calculation direction to "Find the discount %", then enter lines as "product;original price;sale price". The tool works out how many percent the sale price represents off the original, per line and on average.
Is my price list uploaded anywhere?
No. The calculator runs entirely in your browser — your product names, prices and costs never leave your device.
