Google Ads length checker
Paste your Responsive Search Ad assets — one per line — and this tool checks each one against Google Ads' character limits: 30 for a headline, 90 for a description and 15 for a display path. Lines that go over their limit are flagged in the report and painted in the output, so you can spot a headline that got trimmed by an extra word before it ever reaches the Ads editor.
Prefix a line with "H:", "D:" or "P:" to mark it as a headline, description or path; a line with no prefix falls back to the "Default field type" option, so a batch of plain headlines needs no prefixes at all. Turn on "Count dynamic insertion syntax literally" to count text like {KeyWord:Default text} as typed, braces included — useful for catching the extra characters that syntax adds — or turn it off to count only the fallback text that shows when nothing is inserted, which is closer to what a reader normally sees.
"Warn on duplicate headlines" flags a headline that repeats one already in the list, case-insensitively — Google's own editorial review treats near-identical headlines as low quality, and it is easy to lose track of which ones you already wrote once a set grows past a handful. "Warn on exclamation marks and ALL CAPS" catches punctuation and capitalisation that Google's ad policies commonly reject outright, before a review cycle sends the ad back.
Every check runs locally in your browser as you type — nothing you paste is uploaded anywhere, so it is safe to check ad copy that has not gone live yet or that includes unpublished campaign names. Copy the report, download it as a .txt file, or send it into another tool such as the word counter to keep refining your copy.
