Trial to paid conversion calculator

Paste your funnel as one step per line in the format "step;count" — visits, signups, trial activations, paying customers, or whatever stages your product has — and this tool calculates the conversion rate and the number lost at each step, plus the overall conversion from the first stage to the last. It works for any SaaS funnel: a free trial, a freemium signup flow, or a demo pipeline that leads to a paid plan.

Funnel type switches between illustrative trial and freemium benchmarks, since the two are judged on different scales — a 3% visit-to-paid rate is unremarkable for freemium but weak for a trial that already filters for intent. Set a benchmark conversion percentage to compare your rate against a target you already have, and see how many percentage points you are above or below it. Add an average revenue per paying customer for a projected revenue figure. A target paying-customers count runs the math in reverse: assuming the funnel keeps its shape, it works out how many visits the top would need to hit that goal. Choose text or table output for pasting into a doc or a spreadsheet.

Step names are shown back exactly as typed, including accented characters and emoji. Counts accept thousands separators like "10,000" or "10 000". A malformed line is reported by its line number, and a funnel needs at least two valid steps to compute anything. The live tally under the output repeats the step count, overall conversion and total lost, updating as you type.

Everything runs locally in your browser — the numbers you paste, which may describe unreleased pricing or confidential growth figures, are never uploaded anywhere. Copy the result, download it as a .txt file, or send it straight into another tool's input.

FAQ

What format should I paste the funnel in?
One step per line, as "name;count" — for example "Visits;10000" then "Signups;1200" on the next line. Steps are read top to bottom, so list them in the order visitors move through your funnel.
How is the overall conversion different from a step's conversion rate?
A step's rate is that step's count divided by the previous step's count. The overall conversion is the last step divided by the first — the share of your original visits that ended up as paying customers.
What do the trial and freemium ratings mean?
They compare your overall conversion against illustrative bands for each funnel type — a trial that already filters for intent is expected to convert visits to paying customers at a higher rate than an open freemium signup. Set your own "benchmark conversion" if you have a real target to compare against instead.
How does the required-visits calculation work?
It divides your target number of paying customers by your funnel's current overall conversion rate, assuming the funnel keeps converting at the same rate as it scales. It's an estimate, not a guarantee — real funnels rarely stay perfectly linear at higher volume.
Is my funnel data uploaded anywhere?
No. The whole calculation runs in your browser using plain JavaScript — your visit, signup and revenue numbers never leave your device.
