Burn rate and runway calculator
Calculate startup burn rate, cash runway and depletion date from your costs and revenue.
Burn rate and runway calculator
Paste your recurring cost items as "item;amount" pairs, one per line — payroll, rent, tooling, whatever drains the bank account each month — and this calculator turns them into a full runway picture: gross burn rate, net burn rate once revenue is subtracted, how many months of cash are left, and the approximate date the balance hits zero.
Set the current cash balance and monthly recurring income as options, along with optional monthly growth rates for expenses and income — useful once hiring or new contracts start compounding month over month. If a funding round or grant is already planned, enter its amount and the month it lands, and the projection accounts for the cash injection. Set a target runway in months and the tool works out how much monthly net burn would need to shrink to hit it. Enter any ISO currency code (USD, EUR, GBP, or whatever the books use) and switch the output between a narrative summary and a column-aligned month-by-month table.
Cost lines with no ";amount" pair, or a non-numeric amount, are skipped rather than causing an error, so a rough paste from a spreadsheet or accounting export still works — the tally under the output reports how many lines were skipped. Growth rates compound monthly and can be negative, so a planned cost-cutting phase is as easy to model as a hiring spree. The projection table extends as far as the chosen horizon, capped to keep the output readable.
Every calculation runs locally in the browser — cost structure, cash balance and revenue never leave the device or reach a server. Copy the result, download it as a .txt file, or send the output back into the input to refine the cost breakdown further.
