Quit smoking savings calculator
Turn cigarettes per day, pack price and your quit date into money saved, time regained and health milestones.
Quit smoking savings calculator
Enter how many cigarettes you smoked per day, what a pack cost, and the date of your last cigarette, and this calculator works out what quitting is actually worth. It reports money saved since your quit date, cigarettes you didn't smoke, and time regained — 11 minutes per cigarette skipped, the average length of a smoking break. It also checks off four health milestones counted from your quit date: 24 hours, when blood carbon monoxide returns to normal; 48 hours, when smell and taste start recovering; two weeks, when circulation and lung function improve; and one year, when coronary heart disease risk roughly halves.
Three options shape the numbers. Currency sets the symbol shown next to every amount — there's no conversion, just display. Cigarettes per pack turns a pack price into a per-cigarette cost, since pack sizes vary by country. Projection picks how far ahead the projected-savings figure looks: one, five or ten years of staying smoke-free at today's price, calculated from your daily habit rather than time already elapsed.
Paste one line per person or per quit attempt as cigarettesPerDay;pricePerPack;quitDate — for example 20;8.50;2026-01-01 — and each line becomes its own report, with totals for every line added together in the tally beneath the output. A quit date in the future is accepted too and simply shows zero savings and no milestones reached yet, so you can plan ahead of quit day. Windows and Unix line endings both work, and an unreadable line is flagged instead of silently dropped.
Everything runs locally in your browser — no dates, prices or habits are ever sent anywhere. Copy the result, download it as a .txt file, or clear the input and start over; nothing you type is stored unless you turn on remembered input yourself.
