Recipe scaler
Scale ingredient quantities in a recipe up or down for a different number of servings.
Recipe scaler
Paste a recipe and this tool recalculates every ingredient quantity for a different number of servings, without touching the ingredient names or the rest of your text. Set the original and target servings, or type a direct multiplier when you just want to double or halve a batch — either way, every recognized amount in the pasted text is scaled by the same factor.
The tool reads the number at the start of each line, so ordinary ingredient lists ("2 cups flour", "1/2 cup sugar") and numbered ingredient lines ("1. 2 cups flour") both work, and the step number itself is left untouched. It understands whole numbers, decimals (with a dot or a comma), simple and mixed fractions (1/2, 1 1/2), unicode fraction characters (½, ¾) and quantity ranges like "2 to 3 tablespoons" — both ends of a range are scaled together. Turn on rounding to snap results to sensible cooking amounts (quarter cups, whole eggs) instead of long decimals, choose whether quantities come out as fractions or decimals, and convert between metric and imperial units, or normalize dekagrams to grams, with dedicated options.
Any line that doesn't start with a recognized quantity — an instruction step, a note, a heading — is left exactly as it was and flagged so you can see at a glance which lines weren't touched. That keeps the rest of the recipe intact instead of guessing at numbers inside sentences, like an oven temperature, which should never be scaled along with the ingredients.
Everything runs locally in your browser as you type; the recipe is never uploaded anywhere. Copy the scaled result, download it as a .txt file, or send the output back into the input to scale it again in another step.
